What's Involved ? We understand that you want to avoid over-testing your students. For this reason, we have designed the study to be as easy and low-stress as possible. Participation in this study requires one time administration of the assessment, which is taken with paper and pencil. The assessment is based around the 5 key reading skills identified by the National Reading Panel as scientifically-proven to influence reading success, including: alphabetics (phonemic awareness and phonics instruction), reading fluency, reading comprehension, teacher education, and computer technology. To read more about the panel’s study, visit the NRP website. Most of the assessment can be administered to an entire class at one time; a couple of sections are given individually. Teachers can expect to spend approximately three hours over a two-day period and may break up the testing in any way they want. After the assessment has been administered, all materials will be returned for scoring and analysis directly to the developer. Pre-paid shipping labels will be provided. Benefits to You and Your Class Within a couple of weeks after you return your completed assessment materials, you will receive customized reporting of the results for every student who participates. With the results, you will also receive contact information to access the developer’s staff for questions and planning ideas that stem from your results. Your school’s contribution to this important research will also be acknowledged in the final version of the assessment. In addition to
receiving assessment results and consultation, the developer will also
send you a $150 stipend for completing the Field Test. Private
